When we went to Eindhoven earlier in the year little did we know we’d be back in the Netherlands a few months later for the wedding of our very special Dutch friends, Nanda and Jack. We have known them for over 20 years, after initially meeting them on holiday in Kos.
The wedding itself was a beautiful experience. Maaike, the special registrar, looked after us by giving us an English translation so we could follow the service. Instead of just repeating vows, the happy couple gave a full narrative of how they met each other and how they knew they were right for each other. Such a heartfelt and moving experience in comparison with the dry, formal service we have here in the UK, and a lot more meaningful.
Then onto De Peer for eats, more speeches and lots of Dutch food! We also met some lovely Dutch folk on our table so a shout out to Frank/Tjarda and Ronald/Annet for being great company and looking after us.
As our flight back wasn’t until the friday, the newly weds dropped us off, on the way to their honey moon, in Utrecht, a place I had been to many years ago with 7 mad folk on a cycle tour around the country. So we had a chance to properly explore this wonderful city with its splendid, unique, split level canals and lots and lots of bikes!!
