Vienna – A Christmas Wonderland

Awww Vienna.. what a fantastic city this is.. We spent a few days just before Christmas exploring the Christmas markets, the architecture and of course a few of the bars and restaurants!

We stayed at the quirky and very friendly Max Brown 7th District hotel which happened to be very handy for a metro station, the homely Back bone Irish pub and a quick walk right into the heart of the museum quarter. Just up from the hotel we enjoyed the really tasty beef goulash and veg dumplings and some real ale in the 7Stern brewery, a beer in the Epos cafe bar and the studenty Kreisky bar all on the same street!

When in Vienna you of course have to try the Sachertorte [Chestnut-cherry) which we did in CafĂ© Landtmann, Lisa having apple strudel with custard. Full cake menu. We also found the cosiest bar I’d been in for a while the bockshorn and have a pint of the black stuff..

We took a free walking tour which gave us a great idea of what could be explored further which we did the following day. All in all a fantastic break away..
