Ma Boyles – Liver Bards – Down the Rivers of the Windfall Light Final

Great to attend our first Liver Bards poetry night at Ma Boyles; They are run every first Tuesday of the month.

I have attended spoken word evenings before but this was the full hit..

The evening opened up with host and MC Ali Hardwood who shared his ‘Flowers of Hope’ poem and a little of the introduction to Martin Shaw’s ‘Liturgies of the Wild’. We established it wasn’t one of the Professionals.. 😊

Then we had:

David C gave us some words about the inspirational Etty Hillesum (who is included in his book ‘The Meaning and Purpose of Life – Experienced’, and Aaron M asked of Bob Dylan, ‘Where’s the cannon sound?’

Katie encouraged us to think about the not-so-nice ‘nice guy’ as he grabbed another drink, Dan stirred passions with his ‘subway’, ‘stud’ and ‘poppers’ revelations, and Paul Pyke took us away with him and the faeries.

Joseph exposed some obnoxious communication around the pool, Karl shared Obo’s voice on racism in school, and David W imagined an energetic lawnmower museum.

Jake shared an Egyptian New Kingdom legacy, Luke exposed the elephant in the room, and Aaron B showed his love for a soulmate. Happy Birthday, Fi.

AL sang and spoke of The Sink Club, Bob made a Brummie haiku to Jude Bellingham, Mike let us hear some thoughts and feelings on depression and religion, and Eric La Pup took us on walks with many dogs.

[Thanks to Ali for these words]

All in all a wonderful shared evening!
